Heroes is an amazing show, which seems to manage incredible plot twists every week, linking old characters in new way.
Quite often the newly uncovered relationships change the dynamic of the plot and you just have to see what will happen next week 🙂
I thought it was time to create a relationship flow chart, to visualise how all of the characters are linked together so far.

This was suggested here in my last blog entry, and executive producer Brad Wright has now confirmed in an interview with TV Guide magazine that two straight-to-DVD movies have been given the green light.

On Friday, August 18th, The Sci-Fi Channel aired the 200th episode of Stargate SG-1. The show itself was fantastic, and a must see for anyone who missed it. I won’t give anything from the first 35 mins of the show away. Well, except to say the Martin Lloyd is back and making a feature length movie about SG-1, and that most of the episode very closely mimics real life events from the production of SG-1.
In the last scenes of the episode we find out that Martin’s movie is cancelled, but the studio wants to continue making the TV series.
In 2003, MGM said SG-1 would end after Season 8, and they would lead into a movie from that. SG-1 obviously did not go away, and the movie was never made. This part of the episode again mics real life.
In the final scenes we have a flash-forward ten years into the future, at the end of the filming of a new Wormhole X-treme episode. Martin answers the phone and then shouts out “Good news everyone, the movie’s back on!”.
The only thing that can be understood from this, is that MGM has decided to finally go ahead with the production of a new Stargate SG-1 movie.
I cannot find any more information about it yet, but going be the rest of the episode it is hard to draw any other possible conclusions. If you find out what’s going on, please let me know!
The Graduate (1967, Dustin Hoffman) is indeed a classic movie.
Parts of it were often used in other shows as a tribute to its greatness, The Simpsons even went so far as to spoof the entire final scene in an episode with Grandpa and Mrs Bouvier in Mrs Bouvier’s Lover.
Having said all of this, I had not seen the movie in full until tonight, and I have to say that it left me with quite an uneasy feeling. The depiction of selfishness in the character of Mrs Robinson, and the lengths to which she would go to hold onto the only morsel of her life she has control over is overwhelming.
Her actions illustrate a burning desire in each of us to hold on to some amount of normalcy in our lives, while Dustin Hoffman’s character is fighting the same inner turmoil in order to achieve what he needs to be able to live his life to its fullest potential.
It is quite an interesting film which shows two entirely different people both fighting the same side of the coiln in very different ways.
I do feel that a lot of the problems shown in the film seem to stem from the forced social we are required to enter into.
Times have changed since 1967, and in some parts of the world a single pregnant woman isn’t living with a stigma anymore.
Though it does make us think about the other issues we commit ourselves to without thought..

I had not watched this movie through from start to end before tonight.
Having just done so, it is leaving me with troubled thoughts.
I cannot believe the world we live in has hardly changed for over 60 years. People are still murdered en masse by self-rightious butchers on a daily basis. The weak and ill still suffer at the hands of evil men, for no reason. Modern day Hilter’s still walk the planet without a care.
We’ve wrapped ourselves up in so much geopolitical bullshit, that removing dictators from power is measured in the body count of dead soldiers, not the body count of liberated people. Teachers teach our children that war is wrong, that we have no right in the affairs of other countries.
Bullshit again. As members of the human race, it is our solemn duty to protect each other from harm. It is not a right to be protected, but a requirement to protect.
If a person is walking through a door behind you, do you not hold the door open for them?
If the same person was being persecuted, why would you not defend them?
I was not the biggest fan of the US-led war in Iraq, but looking at the bigger picture I cannot help but support it. Every soldier who lays down his life, is doing so for the millions of others who now can be free. Every man and woman who leaves behind their family does so to protect the very essence of humanity, for the very essence of our existance.
Few things have moved me as much as the final scenes of Schindler’s List.
Oskar Schindler was a great man. May he and others like him, always be rememebered. And in their memory, may we continue to save the lives of those around us who cannot save themselves.
