Who wrote Virtual Exim?
Virtual Exim was started by Avleen Vig (me!). Rossz Vámos-Wentworth
has contributed much time, testing and code to the project. This project
could not have made several key jumps without his assistance.
I want to help! What can I do?
Well, we don't need any money just yet :-) But, what we do need, are
suggestions, ideas, and developers. The best way to contribute, is to send
a message to one of the mailing lists on the front page. If you are a
developer and want to contribute to the project, you can also
email me directly at:
[email protected]
Which versions of Virtual Exim are supported?
We endevour to provide as much support for user of Virtual Exim as
possible. But due to the changing nature of the software, we can only
officially support the two most recent releases.
How do I give my users POP3 or IMAP access?
Exim is an MTA. As such it only delivers inbound mail to your users mail
spools, and outbound to other mail servers. POP3 and IMAP functionality
needs to be handled by seperate daemons. This topic is tackled on our
Integrating POP3 and IMAP page.
Which versions of Exim can I use with Virtual Exim?
The developers currently work with Exim 4.x. You're welcome to try out
this product with the 3.x branch. If you can compile in MySQL support,
everything should work fine.
Can I use other MTA's like Sendmail, Postfix or Qmail?
Yes. In theory. We haven't tried it :-). If you can have your MTA collect
a user's home directory path from a MySQL database, there is no reason
this could not work for you. If you do try this, please let us know how it
works out!
